A Hobbit Song

Remember in Fellowship of the Ring when Pippin and Merry sing a cute little chant at the Green Dragon Inn? Well, I was sitting in bed at midnight thinking about that when a couple of my own popped into my head, so I wrote them down. Here they are:

1.
Gimli is a gentleman,
but he knows nothin' 'bout swordfightin',

he hacks and hacks
at men with his axe,
too bad he's too short to reach them!

2.
Pippin and Merry, two hobbit kin,
used to drink beer in their hobbit dens,
but that soon changed

when Jack Sparrow came,
and said, "Have some rum, my hobbit friends!"

The second poem uses a character from Pirates of the Caribbean, but I still think they're cute.

Journey to Valinor

This is an iambic poem written by one of us about Legolas and Gimli and their trip to Valinor.

When silver fell the silent rain,
the elves into the forest came,
of Mirkwood where the sun shines high,
over the woods that never die.

Here at the gates of this silvan realm,
a Sindarin Elf waits by the elms
of royal and immortal blood,
Legolas, prince of the wood.

He awaites another friend,
who will join him to find their end
in a ship of hemlock core,
across the Sea to Valinor.

To Moria they ride with haste,
for Orcs still dwell among the waste
there they help the Dwarves rebuild
Khazad Dum with glory filled.

Again the travel to Entwood,
where they find that Treebeard stood
absorbed in thought of distant places,
they leave him alone on Bregalad's terraces.

At Tolfalas they find their ship,
and secretly away they slip
over the waves to thither shore,
across the Sea to Valinor.
